And here’s why

Two fascinating and deeply disturbing articles are up. They focus on the War on Terror and how it’s going. Apparently, just how Osama hoped it would.

Jihad has worked - the world is now split in two
and
Is Osama Winning?

(I found them thanks to the Agonist.)

I have nothing nearly as profound to say about these articles, so I’ll leave them to speak for themselves.

I will say, though, that I have a tremendous feeling of powerlessness watching everything unfold. These problems are so much bigger than I am, and I don’t feel like I have any say in how fucked up the President’s response to them appears to be. (Bush and Rice’s patronizing “I’m glad we’re going to a country where they can protest” response doesn’t help matters. “Yep, the whole world thinks we’re doing the wrong thing. Giddy-up.” How about dealing with it instead of ignoring it?)

I don’t want to whine too much, so I’ll stop now. But you can be damn sure I’ll be voting in the coming election.

Shiver

Back safely from Dublin, just in time to find this article on the FBI’s latest predictions for terrorist activity. It appears that December is a likely time for terrorism, as this is when Ramadan ends.

Time to buck up, I guess, and stay vigilant. I wish everyone a very safe holiday.

And yeah, Ireland rocked. :-)

In Ireland for the weekend

Dublin calling....

I’m headed to Dublin on RyanAir today. I’ll be back on Monday. Yes, I still have two and two-thirds essays to write. Hehehe.

But you know what this means for you, right? Pictures!

More later.

Update

Just to keep y’all up on the latest...

  • I saw Radiohead at Earl’s Court last Wednesday, 26 November. It was AWESOME, of course. I don’t know if it was better than the other show I saw in Santa Barbara, but they played a fantastic version of Fake Plastic Trees this time which was certainly better than the one from before.
  • Thanksgiving happened after that. It was a blast; I made chicken and rice. As stated before, there are pictures.
  • Eli flew in for the weekend and we had a blast checking out London and Windsor together. (Pictures!) He really seemed to be a hit with the group, which was nice.
  • The quarter is over on Tuesday and I still have three essays to write.

Laugh your ass off

Ever wondered what Kim Jong Il’s IM conversations look like? Well, wonder no more. There’s a LiveJournal that has chat transcripts between Kim and other world leaders (George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Saddam Hussein, etc.).

You’ve got to read it to believe it; funniest thing I’ve seen in months!
